How You Can Help

Make A Donation

When you give to the American Red Cross, you help people. The American Red Cross is made up of local chapters that serve local communities. Each chapter must raise its own funds. We are not a government agency, and we rely on your generosity to help us help others. The services provided by the Eastern Panhandle Chapter are entirely dependent upon the generosity of the local community. The only case in which this would not be true is if the local community suffered a disaster that overwhelmed our Chapter’s resources, such as a hurricane, tornado, earthquake, or large explosion. In such an event, the Eastern Panhandle Chapter would have to call upon the resources of neighboring chapters or its parent organization, The American Red Cross. A portion — called Fair Share — of each chapter’s income is then remitted to the American Red Cross National Headquarters, which provides strategic direction, administrative and marketing support, and certain materials that chapters use in their operations.

All American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people. You can help the victims of hundreds of disasters across this community each year by making a financial gift to Eastern Panhandle Chapter of the American Red Cross, which enables us to provide shelter, food, counseling and other assistance to those in need.

A charitable donation may also provide tax benefits for you and your family. But, most important, a gift to the Red Cross enables you to leave a lasting legacy.

For using every dollar wisely, the American Red Cross has been designated a fourstarcharity (their highest rating) by Charity Navigator, an independent charity watchdog organization. Keeping our administrative costs as low as possible means we can deliver more help to people in need. At least 91 cents of every dollar donated to the American Red Cross goes directly to assist disaster victims.

There are many ways to make a financial donation. And it’s important that you make it clear to us where you want your donation to go. We call this “donor intent”.

DONATION CATEGORY choices include:
